Mom could turn the oldest, 'ugliest' piece of used furniture into a beautiful master piece that could ( and should have been) sold for big bucks.
She could sit down with a simple pencil and scrap paper and just as easily as ever, the most beautiful picture would sprawl across the page.
She had an eye for design, and displayed her talent throughout our home, with regular updates, as she was always creating.
I never seemed to have the same natural talent that she had, but I always appreciated her art, and hoped that one day I could try to create the beauty that she did......
So here I am, almost 28 ( the age she was when yours truly was born)
I can't tell you where the instant urge to begin creating pieces came from, other than it was Monday evening, April 4th.. I had just scanned through a new blog I found. The blogger was a woman much like Mom, and shared her creations and her thrift store finds with the blog world, at that moment, being ME.
I decided at that moment that I was going to work on finding that talent that Mom had, somewhere .... maybe reallllly deep inside ME.
I will post some of the photos of my moms work( IN MY NEXT POST) as I think everyone should see it. For those of you who knew her, remembering her pieces will be a nice trip down memory lane.
*This is my first purchase!!!!! Yes I am very excited about my mirror... She's a beauty!!! Heavy and in need of A LOT of sanding, which my room mate has informed me can not be done in the kitchen:(
LOL
I went on a mission Tuesday late morning, in and out of thrift stores and antique furniture stores, which is where I finally found her, in a jammed packed somewhat smelly 'antique' furniture store on Quadra St.
My plan with the mirror is to sand it down...WAY down and after researching a bit, as I know literally NOTHING on how to do this.... will ideally have a finished product looking like it used to be white, and very old and faded and partially rubbed off paint.
**QUE friends with tips!!!!!
~ This is where I have left off, 1 round of sanding so far......
Im really excited about learning and experimenting and creating, so thank you for allowing me to share it with You~
